Local hotel etc links:
Sussex Uni campus is a couple of miles out of Brighton, there’s plenty of hotels in town - here’s a couple of links for Travel lodge and Premier Inn:

They could get a bit noisy on a Saturday night, especially the Premier Inn as it’s right in the middle of town.
Oh, and parking in the middle of Brighton can be expensive.

The University does provide accommodation too:

Travel to the University:
By car - This is very straightforward as it is at the north side of the A27, opposite the Brighton AMEX football stadium. When you drive on to campus, take the first left, then first right in to car park 1, and drive to the bottom (this car park is on a slope) of the large car park. There’s a ramp in the middle of this carpark down toward a building, you may be able to drive down here to unload only. Follow the footpath round to the right and you’ll see the Creativity Zone.

Parking is free.

By bus and train - Take bus 25 from town, or from Brighton railway station most trains going to Lewes, Seaford, Eastbourne and Hastings will stop at Falmer for the University. Once at Falmer station, head north, under the A27 and follow the footpath on to campus. Walk round to the right, to North-South Road and cross the pedestrian crossing in front of a bridge. Follow the path up three sets of steps and turn left between Pevensey II and the Genome Centre. Follow the footpath round to the right and you’ll see the Creativity Zone.
